TYPES

BRASILIAN TEAK

Brazil is renowned for its teak wood production, primarily in the states of Bahia and Rondônia. Brazilian teak is valued for its rich, golden color and exceptional durability, making it a popular choice for outdoor decking and furniture. The tropical climate and sustainable forestry practices contribute to the quality and availability of this prized timber in international markets.

ECUADOR/COSTA RICA TEAK

Ecuador and Costa Rica are known for their high-quality teak wood production. Ecuadorian teak boasts straight grain and rich color, while Costa Rican teak is prized for its durability and resistance to pests. Both countries employ sustainable practices in their teak cultivation.

SUDAN TEAK

Sudan heartwood is brownish red in colour. It darkens as it ages. Sometimes there are dark patches on it. There is a strange scent in newly cut wood. Wood texture is hard and ring porous. Density is 720 kg/meter cube. This teak is found in forest of Sudan. It resembles to MP teak wood of India

MOZAMBIQUE TEAK

It is a deciduous tree usually growing to 16 m tall, with dark brown bark and a high, wide- crowned canopy. of shiny compound leaves. In favoured wetter locations the trees are typically about 18–19 m tall. The leaves appear at the time of the flowers or shortly afterwards. They are alternate, deep green, imparipinnate, with 11-19 sub opposite to alternate leaflets, the leaflets 2.5–7 cm long and 2–4.5 cm broad. It produces an abundance of scented, orange-yellow flowers in panicles 10–20 cm long; flowering is in the spring. In southern Africa, this is usually just at the end of the dry season, often about mid-October. The pod is 2–3 cm diameter, surrounded by a circular wing 8–12 cm diameter, reminiscent of a brown fried egg, and containing a single seed. 

AFRICAN PADAUK

Padauk has a very unique reddish orange coloration, and the wood is sometimes referred to by the name vermillion. It’s moderately heavy, strong, and stiff, with exceptional stability. Padauk is a popular hardwood among hobbyist woodworkers because of its unique color and relatively low cost. It also occupies a sweet spot in density where it’s sufficiently hard and dense for higher-wear applications, yet not so dense as to be excessively difficult to work.
